Competition
The Daimler Student Innovation Competition inspired students around the world to design a technical poster representing their vision of what brakes will look like in 2025. Students were encoruaged to think big, creatively and differently. Entries came in from 16 countries, from Germany to Malaysia.
Our engineers of the future showcased all kinds of innovative ideas, with concepts relating to Electromagnetism, Autonomous Systems and even Gyroscopic Wheels. Winners were brought from all over the globe to attend the EuroBrake conference and experience the beautiful and historical city of Dresden. The winners attended a private Q&A session with leading figures from industry and academia and toured the city by bus, boat and funicular railway.
The competition Grand Final, chaired by FISITA CEO Chris Mason, was held on the last day of the EuroBrake conference and was open to all delegates, enabling the students to explain their work to leading professionals in the braking industry. The Grand Final also featured a keynote presentation by Tony Parraman of the BLOODHOUND Project. BLOODHOUND is a global campaign that aims to break the 1,000 mph World Land Speed Record whilst showcasing the vitality of STEM subjects.
At the Grand Final, a panel of judges awarded 3 top prizes for the Best Presentation, Best Design and Most Innovative Idea.
